[Purpose/Significance]This study explores strategies for academic libraries to play a consultative role in decision-making,aligning with the plan to promote the construction of new types of university think tank with Chinese characteristics,and to provide a reference for the libraries and intelligence institutions to carry out similar work.[Method/Process]A PDIKI cycle model for academic libraries to carry out the think tank work,particularly decision-making consultation,is proposed through analyzing the relationship between academic li-braries and think tanks and the related research,investigating and analyzing the current practice situation of de-cision-making support service in academic libraries,and combining the problem-oriented features of intelligence and think tank works.Additionally,a think tank work model on decision-making in science and technology inno-vation is introduced as an empirical case study.[Result/Conclusion]The PDIKI cyclic model includes two ends of problem-oriented input and think tank products output,and cycle steps of data-information-knowledge-intelli-gence.This model offers libraries and information institutions a structured reference for processes,methods and strategies of carrying out think tank work,and help the high-quality development of new types of university think tank with Chinese characteristics.Moreover,the think tank work model,targeting decision-making in science and technology innovation,provides actionable insights and practical measures for academic libraries to support uni-versities in their decision-making processes related to scientific innovation,academic integration,and the syner-gistic development of disciplines and talent.
