Digital economy, technological innovation and carbon intensity
Under the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals and digital China strategy,it is significant to analyze the relationship between digital economy and carbon emission intensity. This paper empirically analyzes the impact and mecha-nism of the digital economy on carbon emission intensity using statistical data from 30 provinces(regions)in China from 2013 to 2019,and examines the possible spatial spillover effects of the digital economy using the spatial Durbin model. It is found that(1)the digital economy significantly inhibits carbon emission intensity, and both robustness test and endogeneity analysis support the above conclusion.(2)The mechanism analysis shows that digital economy can improve technological in-novation,which in turn reduces carbon emission intensity.(3)Spatial econometric model analysis shows that there is a spa-tial spillover effect of the digital economy on carbon emission intensity, and the higher the level of digital economy, the low-er the carbon emission intensity of neighboring areas.
