During the anti-Japanese war,in response to the just war of resisting Japanese fascist aggression,Guilin woodcut and cartoon were at the forefront of the cultural war of resistance.In order to overcome the difficulties of cartoon materials and printing in wartime and give full play to the propaganda function of the anti-Japanese war,woodcut and car-toon workers first made innovative thinking,that is,combining woodcut with cartoon to create a new artistic style-"comic woodcut";Secondly,carry out bold practical exploration,improve the integration of the two,and make it develop continu-ously;Thirdly,after solving the problems of the shortage of cartoon materials and the obstruction of printing and communi-cation in wartime,the spread of Manmu has developed rapidly.Fourthly,in the process of integration,innovation and devel-opment,the strong combination of woodcut and cartoon has been realized,showing their respective advantages and making up for each other's shortcomings,thus making the innovative art form of"comic woodcut"play a greater role in creating a-round the theme of the anti-Japanese war,focusing on realistic themes and promoting the anti-Japanese war.
