Partial Load Performance Analysis and Experimental Study of Combined Water Chiller
The experimental setup is establish to test and analyze the coefficient of performance (COP) and the integrated part-load value (IPLV) of a fixed-frequency centrifugal chiller (cooling capacity 2090 kW),a variable-frequency magnetic-bearing chiller (cooling capacity 1045 kW),and a combined chiller with a fixed-frequency centrifugal compressor and a magnetic-bearing compressor (cooling capacity 3140 kW). The results indicate that the COP of the three types of chillers is similar (6.05,6.10,and 6.15,respectively),but there is a significant difference in IPLV. The maximum COP of the fixed-frequency centrifugal chiller is 6.43 in the 75% load range, and sharply decreasing below 50% load, with an IPLV of 5.99. The COP of the variable-frequency magnetic-bearing chiller increases as the load decreases, reaching an IPLV of 9.68. The combined chiller, consisting of compressors from the two chillers, possesses a wide range of load regulation capabilities and low-cost characteristics, with an IPLV of 7.5. The final type of chiller can be determined based on the project's load characteristics and investment considerations.
