Research Advance of Damage Mechanism and Coping Strategies During Red Blood Cell Preservation
The research progress of the damage types and coping strategies of red blood cells during cryopreservation, including the damage of red blood cells caused by slow or rapid freezing and the damage of red blood cells caused by freeze drying are reviewed in this paper. The results showed that the main types of damage suffered by red blood cells during cryopreservation include solution damage, intracellular ice damage, supercooling damage, osmotic damage and recrystallization damage, which will lead to low recovery and survival rate of red blood cells after rewarming and greatly reduce the use effect of red blood cells after cryopreservation. And these damages could be further inhibited by the development of multiple cryopreservation agents, microfluidic method, ultrasonic ice seeding, new nanomaterials, acoustic thermal rewarming and freeze drying.
