Progress on Radiotherapy in Treatment of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Complicated with Portal Vein Cancer Thrombus
Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)has always been a hot spot in cancer research due to its high morbidity and mortality. The presence and location of portal vein tumor thrombosis(PVTT)is a key factor for the clinical staging, treatment outcome and prognosis of HCC patients.Current-ly,the treatment of HCC combined with PVTT remains a great challenge, and there is no global consensus or guidelines for its treatment. The modern radiotherapy can target the invading blood vessels precisely, the use of radiotherapy alone or in combination with other therapeutic modali-ties can improve the survival and quality of life of patients with PVTT.This paper reviews the re-cent progress on the application of radiotherapy in the perioperative treatment or palliative treat-ment for inoperable patients with PVTT.
