Analysis of Expectation for Treatment Outcomes and Influencing Factors in 392 Cases with Rectal Cancer Based on Network Platform Survey
[Objective]To investigate the expectation on treatment outcomes and related factors in pa-tients with rectal cancer.[Methods]A questionnaire survey on the expectation of rectal cancer patients for treatment outcomes was conducted through the platform of Zhejiang Cancer Hospital from December 2023 to January 2024.The factors related to the treatment choices were analyzed.[Results]A total of 392 valid questionnaires were collected.The most important expectation related to the treatment con-sidered by participants was completed cure of cancer(n=376,95.9％),followed by no any complica-tions after surgery(n=270,68.9％),no permanent stoma after treatment(n=266,67.9％),normal bowel habits and continence after treatment(n=248,63.3％),and normal exercise and physical activity(n=191,48.7％).Patients with different treatment status,tumor staging,age and education background showed differences in expectation for treatment outcomes.[Conclusion]The overall quality of life and preserva-tion of organ function are mostly expected for rectal cancer patients after surgical treatment.At present,surgery remains the major treatment modality of rectal cancer,and the watch and wait(W&W)strategy after neoadjuvant therapy need to be known more as an effective emerging treatment modality for both doctors and patients.
