Association Between Hyperthyroidism and Gastric Cancer:Two-Sample Mendelian Randomized Analysis
[Objective]To investigate the relationship between hyperthyroidism and gastric cancer by Mendelian randomization analysis.[Methods]Data related to hyperthyroidism were obtained from the IEU database and the summarized statistical data for gastric cancer were obtained from the GWAS catalog database. The potential causal relationship between hyperthyroidism and gastric cancer was analyzed by Mendelian randomization analysis.Inverse variance weighted(IVW)was used as the main analysis method, weighted median and MR-Egger were used as supplementary analysis methods.Sensitivity analysis was performed to assess the reliability of the results.[Re-sults]IVW results showed that hyperthyroidism was associated with gastric cancer(IVW:OR=0.000 119,P=0.005 577).Sensitivity analysis verified the reliability of the results, which were not affected by heterogeneity and pleiotropy.[Conclusion]There is a potentially significant causal relationship between hyperthyroidism and gastric cancer.
