Progress on Application of Endoscopy in Prevention and Treatment of Colorectal Cancer
Colorectal cancer is a common malignant tumor worldwide with a high incidence and mortality rate.Endoscopic screening has been proven to be an effective tool for colorectal cancer prevention and early detection. With regular endoscopic screening, survival can be significantly improved through timely detection and removal of lesions in patients with colorectal progressive adenomas. However, the compliance of patients and skills of physicians may affect the effective-ness of endoscopic screening. This paper describes the use of endoscopic screening techniques in the prevention, early detection, and treatment of colorectal cancer;the evolution of endoscopic techniques from early rigid-tube endoscopy to the latest capsule endoscopy, and the advantages and limitations of various endoscopic techniques. In addition, this paper discusses national and international guidelines for colorectal cancer screening and their recommendations for endoscopic screening,as well as strategies and challenges to improve screening adherence.Through continu-ous innovation and optimization of screening strategies,it is expected that the accuracy and prevalence of endoscopic screening will be further improved in the future, thereby reducing the disease burden of colorectal cancer globally.
