Research Progress on Nutritional Management of Cancer Pa-tients Undergoing Radiotherapy
Radiotherapy is used as a major cancer treatment.Numerous studies have shown that radiotherapy affects the digestion and absorption functions of patients,disturbing the intake of nu-trients;radiotherapy may also cause symptoms such as dry mouth,nausea,vomiting,oral mu-cositis,and esophagitis,affecting the eating ability and appetite,all these lead to malnutrition of patients.Therefore,nutritional support and management are critical for cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy,which helps to maintain the nutritional status and quality of life of patients,and im-prove the therapeutic effect and prognosis.This paper reviews the nutritional impact of radiothera-py on cancer patients,nutritional screening and assessment,nutritional intervention and common modalities of cancer radiotherapy,prevention and treatment of nutrition-related complications caused by radiation therapy and challenges of nutritional management for radiotherapy patients,to provide a reference for the selection of nutritional screening and assessment tools,prevention and treatment of nutritional complications related to radiotherapy,and the selection of appropriate nu-tritional intervention pathways.
