The aim was to improve the ecological environment of Shanxi province.The ecological system of the loess hilly area should be reformed in an all-round way,and the application of afforestation technology should be strengthened to overcome the problem of afforestation in the loess hilly area.The current status of afforestation on barren mountains in the loess hilly area of Shanxi province was studied.The realistic difficulties faced by afforestation on barren mountains in the loess hilly area of Shanxi province were analyzed.And optimization strategies for the application of afforestation technology on barren mountains in the loess hilly area from the aspects of pre-planning,land preparation,afforestation,care management and daily maintenance were proposed.The realization of green development strategy was promoted and theoretical reference for relevant staff was provided.
