Melatonin is a small molecule neuroendocrine hormone widely present in animals and plants.It is a natural antioxidant that effects postharvest respiratory metabolism,ethylene release,ripening,aging and enhancing stress resistance of fruits.Currently,melatonin has been used in postharvest fruit preservation increasingly.This article analyzed and studied the mechanism,application,and influencing factors of melatonin on postharvest fruit preservation,in order to clarify the research status and development trend of melatonin in postharvest fruit preservation,and provide new technical support for the fruit preservation industry.
