Characters Performance and Yield Analysis of Main Maize Varieties in Mengcheng County
[Objective]The aim was to screen maize varieties suitable for planting in Mengcheng county and areas with similar production conditions.[Method]Through three years of comparative experiments,the growth characteristics and yield composition of seven hybrid maize varieties currently used in Mengcheng county were studied.[Result]The yield of 7 tested maize varieties ranged from 6 846.0 to 8 663.5 kg/hm2,and the yield of Qihua 703 and Kehua 666 was higher,which were 8 663.5 and 8 329.5 kg/hm2,respectively.The number of grains per spike of 7 tested varieties ranged from 403.7 to 563.6,among which Kehua 666 had the highest average number of grains per spike.The 100-grain weight of 7 tested varieties ranged from 27.8 to 32.6 g,among which Qihua 703 had the highest 100-grain weight.[Conclusion]Qihua 703 and Kehua 666 have moderate growth period,coordinated three elements of yield,and good comprehensive traits,which are suitable for promotion in Mengcheng county and areas with similar production conditions.
