Effects of Two Exogenous Substances on Seed Germination Traits of sh2 Sweet Corn
[Objective]To investigate the effects of PEG-6000 and GA3 on the germination traits, substance utilization and antioxidant system of sweet corn seeds.[Method]The sh2 sweet corn seeds were treated with 0.1%mercuric chloride solution for 15 minutes, washed with sterile water and soaked in PEG-6000 and GA3 solutions with different concentration gradients for 12 hours, respectively. The seeds were placed in a temperature of 25℃and a humidity of 70%artificial intelligence climate box in dark culture. The germination potential was counted on the fourth day,the germination rate was counted on the seventh day,and the growth indexes were measured after the germination test.[Result]Different concentrations of PEG-6000 and GA3 could promote the germination of seeds.Soaking seeds with 1.0 g/L GA3 had obvious effects on increasing root dry weight, root fresh weight, seedling fresh weight, root matter utilization rate and seedling matter utilization rate.1.0 g/L PEG-6000 significantly promoted the activities of POD,CAT and SOD in seedlings.[Conclusion]The soaking effect of 1.0 g/L PEG-6000 solution was the best, which could provide theoretical reference for improving the germination quality of sweet corn seeds and cultivating strong seedlings in production.
