The Effects of Varying Light Qualities on the Growth and Main Active Components of Zanthoxylum nitidum Seedlings
To investigate the effect of different light qualities on the growth and development of zanthoxylum nitidum seedlings,white light was used as the control (CK). LED light sources were applied,including single blue light ( B ),single red light ( R ),and different red-blue light combinations ( T1∶R∶B=2∶1;T2∶R∶B=4∶1;T3∶R∶B=6∶1;T4∶R∶B=8∶1;T5∶R∶B=10∶1 ) . After three months of cultivation,the differences in agronomic traits,root morphology,chlorophyll content,antioxidant enzyme activity,root vitality,and alkaloid content were analyzed. The results show that light quality significantly affects the growth of zanthoxylum nitidum seedlings,with varying degrees of impact on different indicators.The seedlings grown under the red-blue light combinations R∶B=4∶1 ( T2 ) exhibited the best above-ground growth,with plant height and stem diameter being 1.7 and 1.4 times that of the control (CK),respectively. The seedlings grown under the red-blue light combination R∶B=10∶1 ( T5 ) had the highest root biomass,with root fresh weight,root length,root projected area,root surface area,and root volume being 2.3,1.6,1.9,1.9 and 2.1 times that of the control,respectively. The seedlings grown under the R∶B=10∶1 ( T5 ) combination also showed significant increases in superoxide dismutase ( SOD ) and peroxidase ( POD) activities,which were 1.2 and 1.1 times higher than the control,respectively. The seedlings grown under the R∶B=8∶1 ( T4 ) combination and full blue light ( T6 ) had significantly higher total chlorophyll content compared to the control,with values being 1.4 and 1.3 times that of control,respectively. Red-blue light also promoted the accumulation of alkaloids in Niandranthes,with the alkaloids content of the R∶B=2∶1 ( T1 ) combination being 1.19 times that of the control. Considering all the indicators,the red-blue light combination R∶B=10∶1 ( T5 ) treatment effectively promoted the robust growth of Zanthoxylum nitidum seedlings,making it a suitable artificial light source for industrialized seedling cultivation.
