Study on Lighting for Elderly People to Alleviate VDT Eye Fatigue
Lighting is one of the important factors of VDT visual fatigue in elderly individuals. In order to determine the lighting parameters that are beneficial for preventing and alleviating VDT eye fatigue in the elderly,an ergonomic perspective was adopted to create an experimental simulated space. The study explores the relationship between subjective evaluation, visual performance, physiological indicators, and visual fatigue. The effects of optical parameters such as illuminance, color temperature, and screen brightness on VDT visual fatigue in the elderly are investigated. The Critic and Topsis combined weighting methods are used to comprehensively evaluate different lighting conditions. The variance results show that a high illumination of 1500 lx and low screen brightness of 50 cd/m2 are most effective in alleviating VDT visual fatigue in the elderly; The combinations of high illumination 1500 lx with low screen brightness 50 cd/m2,as well as high illumination 1500 lx with high color temperature 6500 K,are more suitable for elderly VDT reading. The comprehensive evaluation results show that the highest-rated lighting combination is 1500 lx,6500 K and 50 cd/m2,followed by 750 lx,6500 K and 50 cd/m2 .
