Highway maintenance inspection technology and application based on autonomous vehicles
To address the issues of low efficiency and high manpower input in traditional road inspection and maintenance techniques, this paper proposes an inspection technology that combines a portable on-board terminal with autonomous vehicles. The technology involves the automated collection of road surface images through a data collection terminal installed on autonomous vehicles. An SSD road surface defect detection model is established to process the collected data in real-time.The detection results are visualized and displayed through a backend highway inspection management platform, assisting road maintenance departments in decision-making.This method has been demonstrated in Suzhou's Xiangcheng district, with results showing that the proposed highway maintenance inspection technology based on autonomous vehicles achieves a defect identification accuracy of 91.55%,and increases the efficiency of manual inspection by 40%.The technology demonstrates significant and widespread practical value.
