Process mineralogical characteristics of Li and Rb in highly differentiated granites in Tengchong,Yunnan Province
The aim of this study is to determine the occurrence state of lithium and rubidium and the process mineralogy characteristics of Cretaceous highly differentiated granites in Tengchong(Yunnan Province),and to provide solutions for the comprehensive utilization of key metals in the region.Representative granites from the Shuicheng ore field were selected as the research objects.Scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy and automatic ore determination system were used to reveal petrographic and mineralogical characteristics, such as chemical composition, physical phase, element occurrence state, and mineral embedded particle size of single mineral. The results show that Li mainly exists in mica minerals, and Rb mainly exists in feldspar and mica minerals.Mica is mainly ferrolepidolite, followed by muscovite, which is mostly in regular sheet shape and has a simple mosaic relationship with feldspar and quartz.Feldspar is dominated by potassium feldspar, followed by albite. The mosaic relationship between feldspar and mica is relatively simple, thus it is estimated that mica and feldspar can be fully separated after moderate grinding.Based on theoretical calculations, the yield of mica concentrate is 5.76%-6.60%and the grades of Li2O and Rb2O are 0.62%-0.73%and 0.53%-0.55%,respectively.The recoveries of Li2O and Rb2O are 91.11%-91.30%and 38.20%-39.56%,respectively.Mica is characterized by uneven medium and fine-grain distribution, and thus it is appropriate to select a grinding fineness of less than 74 μm.Under such a condition, about 95%of the mica in the sample can be dissociated.Mica is mostly filled and distributed along quartz and feldspar grains, and the binding force between them is relatively low, which is conducive to the mineral separation in the grinding process. Therefore, the grinding fineness selected in the actual beneficiation process can be moderately coarsened on the basis.Lithium, rubidium and other key metals hosted by granites in the Tengchong area of Yunnan Province have good comprehensive recycling value, which should be paid full attention to.
