Abstract
This article explores the application of GIS in surveying and mapping engineering,with a focus on its role in the acquisition,processing,and analysis of surveying and mapping data.Firstly,the basic principles and technologies of GIS in geographic surveying and mapping are introduced.Then,several key application areas of GIS in surveying and mapping engineering are described in detail,including terrain measurement,geological exploration,land use planning,and urban planning.By using formulas and data,the specific functions and effects of GIS in these application fields are demonstrated.Finally,the advantages and challenges of GIS in surveying and mapping engineering are summarized,and future development directions are proposed.
