Research on Analysis and Design Strategies for Shared Spaces Based on Spatial Syntax and Multi-source Data——A Case Study on Enhancing Space Quality in Wending Fang,Xuhui District,Shanghai
Taking the improvement of spatial quality in Wendingfang Street,Xuhui District,Shanghai as an example, this paper analyzes the spatial accessibility, visibility, scale of business and population characteristics from the perspective of blocks and sites by using space syntactic correlation theory and multi-source data, aiming to explore the degree of connection between the site and its surroundings and to uncover the development potential of the space. For public spaces with large scale, complex functions, and high pedestrian flow, relying solely on on-site surveys is difficult to accurately describe the complexity of their spatial structure and pedestrian circulation. The practice of spatial syntax theory focuses on spatial analysis, which can provide in-depth analysis of the site from multiple perspectives and serve as an important basis for the formulation of design strategies and schemes design. The main research objective of this paper is to use spatial syntax,multi-source data, and other technical means to summarize the current evaluation content and design strategies for shared spaces.
