The effects of scraping stem and applying ABT #1 rooting powder at stem surface on the rooting of Salacca zalacca upper air layering were studied to raise the survival rate of seedlings. By taking no scraping stem and wiping water on the stem as the controls, the S. zalacca seedlings were treated. The leaf length and number of roots of the layerage seedlings were measured at regular intervals, thereby evaluating the seedlings' growth performance and rooting rate. It was concluded that the stem-scrapped seedlings had a significantly higher rooting rate than that of no stem-scraped seedlings but had a very significant low leaves growth than non-scrapped seedlings. Besides the rooting numbers of the seedlings treated with ABT #1 rooting powder were significantly greater than that of no-wiping ABT #1 rooting powder, the rooting number was positively correlated to the concentration of applying ABT#1 rooting powder, when the concentration was 1000 mg/L, the rooting efficiency (performance price ratio)reached the peak value.
