The Physico-chemical Properties of Soil and Its Correlation with the Growth of Bambusa rigida in Gannan, Jiangxi province, China
The object of the study was to reveal the characteristic of soil physico-chemical properties and its correlation with the growth of Bambusa rigida in Gannan, Jiangxi Province, China. B. rigida is a good material for building and paper making, as a landscaping bamboo specie, it also has good ornamental value. In this paper, the growth of B. rigida adopted method of fixed sample survey, and the sampling soil was determined by laboratory method, to provide a theoretical basic for the nutrient and bamboo forest management. The results showed that with the soil depth increased, bulk density increased, while moisture and porosity of soil decreased. Change trend of different nutrient indexes of soil was different. Compared with the national standard of the second soil census, only the content of Alkali-hydro N kept high level, other nutrient contents kept deficient or mid-high level. The content of Mg and S was severely deficient;the content of Zn was slightly lower than Deficient critical value, while others nutrient elements were abundant. The growth of B. rigida and soil physical properties existed a certain correlation. The correlation of soil physical properties with DBH and SPAD new leaves was higer. Organic matter and total nitrogen, respectively, and growth indicators showed significant or highly significant correlation. Therefore, in order to promoting the growth and efficiently manage B. rigida forest, rational fertilization and maintaining soil fertility based on growth and fertilizer demand is necessary.
