Growth rhythm ofPinus pumila in Daxing’an Mountains, Inner Mongolia
As one of the coniferous species in colder Northeast China,Pinus pumila is also a rare shrub species among pine trees. The purpose of this article was to study the growth ofP. pumilaon different sites. Tree stem analytical method was adapted to survey the growth rhythm ofP.pumila in the ridge and valley in Daxing’an Mountains, Inner Mongolia. Based on the models and characteristics of tree diameter, tree height growth model and tree height curve equations, the growth models ofP. pumila wereiftted and established. Then the optimal models were selected from them. The results show that whether growing in the valley or ridge, P. pumilaheight growth both appeared a binomial model change. In the valley and ridge,P. pumila’s growth of stem diameter wereiftted better with both power function and binomial function; the optimal model of tree height-basal diameter can be fitted by using power function or binomial function model. The growth of tree height, tree diameter and tree ring growth in the ridge were faster than those in the valley, this was not only related with the growth characteristics ofP. pumila, but also depended on the environmental conditions.
