Study on early selection and experiment of Guangxi 20-year-old Chinese fir clone
Test plantations of one hundred and two 20-year-old Chinese fir clones included Guangxi local breeds and materials collected from Guangdong,Guizhou and Hunan were surveyed and analyzed. The results of statistical analysis showed that there were significant or great significant genetic variations in height, diameter at breast height (DBH) and volume among these clones. The difference of each traits gradually increased with stand age. There was highly reliability in early Selection for 8-year-old Chinese fir clones using cluster method of 3 categories.Compared with cluster method of 5 categories, cluster method of 3 categories reduced missing rate of superior clones.Compared with the result of early selection for 6-year-old Chinese fir clones, missing rate of the selection for the 8-year-old clones reduced 25%.By cluster method of 3 categories, the right rate of early selection for 8-year-old Chinese fir clones reached 61.1%.Compared with the control clone, volume gains of 24 clones picked out by final selection were more than 15%.
