Effectiveness evaluation of interpretive panels in Hunan Botanical Garden based on eye movement experiment
[Objective]As an important means of conveying information in botanical garden,interpretive panels undertake important functions such as serving,educating,and managing tourists.Evaluating the effectiveness of interpretive panels is of great significance for further optimizing interpretive panels and improving tourist satisfaction.[Method]The paper took interpretive panels of Hunan Botanical Garden as the research object.Through literature analysis,field research,eye movement analysis,and interview methods,subjective and objective data were collected from 31 participants on the evaluation of the effectiveness of scenic spot interpretive panels.The impact of different interpretive elements on participants'fixation behavior and preferences was analyzed,and the effectiveness of scenic spot interpretive panels was comprehensively evaluated by combining the analysis of participants'primary focus and attention trend.[Result]1)Vivid interpretive and interpretive panels with interpretive pictures were more attractive to participants and had better interpretive effects.2)The interpretive panel with rich layout elements and a sense of hierarchy was more popular with the subjects,and the interpretive effect was better.3)Compared to traditional design panels such as rectangles and circles,specially designed panels attracted more participants and had better interpretive effects.4)The subjects were accustomed to reading from left to right and from top to bottom.When the interpretive image was located on the left,the visual flow of the subjects was smoother and the conveying effect of the interpretive information was better.5)Among all the constituent elements,participants first focused on the narrative title and appearance design.6)The participants'attention decreased over time,but interpretive panels with rich composition elements would re attract a certain degree of attention from the participants.[Conclusion]There is still much room for improvement at the overall utility level of the interpretive panels in Hunan Botanical Garden,such as increasing the vividness and richness of the interpretive content,optimizing the diversity and hierarchy of layout,improving the coordination and uniqueness of exterior design,improving the rationality and coherence of layout design;adjusting the distribution of interpretive panels.
