Dynamic changes of fruit growth in four different fruit-shaped Camellia osmantha clones
[Objective]In order to better guide the production of Camellia osmantha.[Method]Four clones of C.osmantha with different fruit shapes, clone 68(olive shape),clone 70(globular shape),clone 84(orange shape)and clone 91(ovate shape)were selected to observe and analyze the dynamic changes of fruit growth and development of C.osmantha.[Result]1)There were significant differences in the start and end time of rapid fruit expansion of different clones of C.osmantha.The rapid fruit expansion of clone 68,clone 70 and clone 91 all began on 15 July, the rapid fruit expansion of clone 70 ended on August 5,during which the increase in fruit volume reached 8.82 cm3,accounting for 50.66%of the total volume of growth in the observation period;the clone 68 and clone 91 ended the period of fruit expansion stage only on August 25,during which the volume increased by 5.47 cm3 and 8.71 cm3,accounting for 57.07%and 51.96%of the total volume growth in the observation period, respectively;whereas the rapid volume expansion of clone 84 started on August 5 and continued until October 15,the increase in fruit volume accounted for 34.52%and 37.63%during the periods from August 5 to August 25 and from August 25 to October 15,respectively.2)The time at which the grain turning black in the fruit was correlated with the cessation of rapid growth period in the fruit, with the rapid growth period ending earlier and the seeds turning black earlier.[Conclusion]There are significant differences in the fruit growth process of different asexual lines of C.osmantha, and the key period of rapid fruit expansion is mainly concentrated in the period from July 15th to August 25th.
