Research on UAV Image Enhancement Based on Visible Light Vegetation Index——A Case Study from Wangyedian Forest Farm in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region
At both the plot scale and single tree scale,we extracted tree crown information through UAV re-mote sensing images from experimental plots of Wangyedian Forest Farm in Haraqin Banner,Chifeng City,In-ner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and then used the visible light vegetation index to enhance the images. The results showed that the standard deviation of the images'gray values improved by 162.61%.The accuracy had in-creased by 14.22%because of using the enhanced multi-scaled image segments to extract forest stand crowns. As to single tree crowns, the accuracy had increased by 11.48%.All the improvements were statistically significant. This paper indicates adopting image enhancement methods based on UAV visible light vegetation index can elimi-nate or reduce UAV images that are easily affected by shadows and cross-overlaps between tree crowns, which is of great significance for using remote sensing technology to conduct forest resource surveys.
