Semiconductor photocatalysis is a technology that uses solar energy to drive a catalytic reaction.Due to its energy saving and environmentally friendly properties,it has attracted wide attention. Some natural minerals on the earth's surface have suitable band gaps and efficient light absorption properties, which can induce photocatalytic reaction and affect the environment. Here the environmental effect of natural mineral photocatalysis, including gas-phase photocatalysis(CO2 reduction, nitrogen fixation, and nitrate conversion)and liquid-phase photocatalysis(organic pollutants degradation and bacterial inactivation)was reviewed, and the construction and modification of natural mineral photocatalysts(supporting, surface modification and combination)were summarized. The problems of natural mineral photocatalysts were discussed and the future development was prospected.
