Synthesis of nanoflower-like Mg/Al/Fe-CLDH based on"memory effect"for efficient Cd(Ⅱ)removal
A novel hydrotalcite-like adsorbent,Mg/Al/Fe-CLDH(CFMA),was synthesized by"memory effect"for the removal of Cd(Ⅱ).CFMA was analyzed by SEM-EDS,XRD,BET,TGA,FT-IR and XPS and proved to be a nanoflower-like mesoporous adsorbent with large specific surface area.Batch adsorption experiment results indicated that 0.5 g·L-1 CFMA was able to effect high removal efficiency for 20 mg·L-1 Cd(Ⅱ)at pH 4.0-7.0.The adsorption followed the quasi-secondary kinetics and Freundlich adsorption isothermal model with a maximum adsorption capacity of 396.1 mg·g-1.Mechanism characterization showed that the removal of Cd(Ⅱ)involved the exchange of ligands and surface complexes with surface hydroxyl groups, and the formation of CdCO3 precipitates between the hydrotalcite layers.
