The Adaptation and Development of the Biography of Liu Yi in Cantonese Opera
Li Chaowei's Biography of Liu Yi is an excellent legendary works of the Tang Dynasty,which has been adapted into operas ever since.From the Biography of Liu Yi in Tang Dynasty to the Biography of Liu Yi in Cantonese Opera,the stories and characters of the works have been continuously enriched and developed with the changes of times.This paper analyzes and compares the Cantonese opera Biography of Liu Yi with the original bi-ography of Tang Dynasty in three aspects of theme,characterization and plot adaptation,studies the similarities and differences between the two,and further explores the role and influence of social mainstream cultural values in different times on the change of male and female personality and social status cognitive mode.
