A Review and Reflection on the Studies of Literary Translation in Newspapers and Periodicals from the Perspective of Digital Humanities
This paper delineates the studies of serial-form literary translation, indicates the typical research perspectives and the multiple directions they have provided for studies of newspaper and periodical translation, and highlights the limitations of the underexplored field-studies of serialized literary translation.Based on such a context, the paper then discusses the digital humanities turn in multiple fields of humanities in the mid-twentieth century and the inspiration on new research methods and angles that the periodical studies emerging in the turn of the twenty-first century will bring to translation studies. Finally, the paper points out how the study of serialized literary translation, particularly the early serialized literary translation in Chinese newspapers and periodicals, can make use of the trend of digital humanities and what new methods and tools it can use.
