The Categorization of Inter-actor Relationships in American Diaspora Diplomacy
The paper presents a theoretical framework for the conceptualization of diaspora diplomacy through a comparative analysis of inter-organizational relations between the U.S.State Department and diaspora communities.Based on the degree and nature of resource dependence, the relationship between the United States and diaspora organizations is classified into four types:mediation consultation, compliance, lobbying, and public-private partnership.Diaspora diplomacy serves as an essential mechanism to integrate the perspectives of diaspo-ra communities into relevant foreign policy formulation and implementation processes, while also strengthening and deepening U.S.diplomatic connections globally.
