A Review of the Research on Gongyang Ritual in the Qing Dynasty over the Past Fifty Years
Liu Fenglu played an important role in the Changzhou School and was also a representative figure of Gongyang School in the Qing Dynasty.Later,Ling Shu and Chen Li inherited Liu Fenglu's interpretation of Gongyang School using the method of Sinology to govern the classics,and combined Gongyang's ideal of govern-ing the world with the etiquette model of Chinese culture.Ling Shushou introduced the example of Gongyang Yili into the study of ritual,marking the beginning of Changzhou School's support for Gongyang School to enter the study of ritual.Chen Li,under the guidance of Ling Shushou's Gongyang School of Rites,took a different ap-proach and constructed a system of ritual based on the Gongyang School of Rites,promoting the thought of Gong-yang School of Rites to its peak through the Huitong Li system,and influencing the development of Gongyang School of Rites scholars such as Wang Kaiyun,Liao Ping,and Su Yu in the late Qing Dynasty.This article will ex-plore the current status of research and development on the study of Gongyang ritual in the Qing Dynasty over the past fifty years,including specialized books,theses,and journal articles,in order to objectively explore the re-search achievements of Gongyang ritual in the Qing Dynasty.
