"Natural history"does not receive much attention in Schelling's study.Schelling's discussions of it face double difficulties:from the point of view of the concept of history,Schelling gives seemingly conflicting accounts of natural history. The validity of Schelling's natural history is also question-able in the light of the concept of nature.By distinguishing the inner and outer dimensions of Schelling's natural history,it is possible not only to resolve these two difficulties, but also to show the connection between natural history and nature, reflecting the fact that natural history is an integral aspect of Schelling's nature philosophy.
