The Deductive Closure Problem of Causation and Its Solution
Whether causation is deductively closed is an important issue about the joint mechanism of causation and logical deduction. The closure of cau-sation is divided into the closure of effect and the closure of cause.Although the closure of the effect under the operation of conjunctive introduction and cancellation is controversial, the closure of the effect under the operation of disjunctive introduction is not valid,so the closure of the effect does not hold.In terms of the closure of cause,no matter according to the whole cause view,or according to the partial cause view, the closure of cause is also not valid. Thus, causation is not deductively closed.
