Research on Disinfecting Performance of Dibromohydantoin and Trichloroisocyanuric Acid Disinfectants on Bacteria at the Surface of Different Aircraft Materials
Astronauts will carry out missions under more complex and unknown environments on ex-traterrestrial bodies of longer distances with the acceleration of deep-space exploration missions such as the exploration of Moon,Mars, and asteroid. The risk of bring microorganisms back in the return cabin increases. To solve this problem, the disinfectants, disinfection methods, and their effective-ness against different surface microorganisms were studied in this paper. The disinfectants Tri-chloroisocyanuric acid and Dibromohymenin, with the characteristics of strong and long-lasting steri-lization effects,environment-friendly and human-friendly,were chosen to assess their efficacy a-gainst typical space microorganisms(Escherichia coli,Staphylococcus aureus, and Bacillus subtilis)on the surfaces of three common spacecraft materials(304 stainless steel,PP plastic, and PVC board). The results showed that the sterilization rate of the bacteria on the surface of the three mate-rials sprayed with single disinfectant was above 99.9999%,and that the disinfection effect of the compound concentration ratio was superior to that of the single components, with a sterilization rate greater than 99.999 99%,while significantly reducing the amount of disinfectant used.
