Clinical value of serum prohibitin 1 in predicting the severity and prognosis of patients with sepsis
Objective:To study the clinical value of serum prohibitin 1(PHB1)in predicting the severity and prognosis of patients with sepsis. Methods:A total of 80 cases of sepsis and 40 cases of septic shock admit-ted to the Intensive Care Unit of our hospital from June 2020 to June 2023 were selected as the study ob-jects.The general data,PHB1 levels, acute physiological and chronic health status(APACHE Ⅱ)scores and Se-quential organ failure assessment(SOFA)score were compared between the two groups.According to the surviv-al status of the patients during the 28-day follow-up period, the patients were divided into survival group and non-survival group, and the PHB1 levels,APACHE Ⅱ scores and SOFA scores of the two groups were compared. The correlation between serum PHB1 levels and procalcitonin(PCT),APACHE Ⅱ scores and SOFA scores was analyzed. The predictive efficacy of serum PHB1 in predicting sepsis related death was analyzed using receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve. Results:The levels of WBC,CRP and PCT in sepsis pa-tients were significantly lower than those in septic shock patients(P<0.05).The PHB1,APACHE Ⅱ scores and SOFA scores of septic shock group were significantly higher than those of sepsis group(P<0.05).The PHB1,APACHE Ⅱ scores and SOFA scores in non-survival group were significantly higher than those in survival group(P<0.05).PHB1 level was positively correlated with PCT,WBC,APACHE Ⅱ score and SOFA score(P<0.01).ROC curve analysis showed that PHB1 predicted the prognosis of sepsis with an AUC of 0.920,a sen-sitivity of 94.7%,and a specificity of 76.2%.Conclusion:PHB1 levels are closely related to disease severity in patients with sepsis and may be a biomarker for predicting prognosis in patients with sepsis.
