Effect of hypomagnesemia on the prognosis of adult patients with sepsis/
Objective:To evaluate whether hypomagnesemia is associated with all-cause in-hospital mortality in adult patients with sepsis. Methods:Adult patients with sepsis admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Chi-na-Japan Friendship Hospital from June 2020 to June 2023 were retrospectively summarized.Patients meeting the inclusion criteria were divided into the hypomagnesemia group and the normal serum magnesium group ac-cording to the serum magnesium level at admission. The differences in mortality between the two groups were compared and analyzed, and logistic regression was used to analyze the risk factors for mortality. Results:A to-tal of 285 patients were included in the study, among whom 114 patients were in the hypomagnesemia group, with a mortality rate of 29.8%,which was significantly higher than that in the normal serum magnesium group(8.2%)(P<0.05).High sequential organ failure score, mechanical ventilation, and hypomagnesemia were inde-pendent risk factors for in-hospital all-cause mortality in patients with sepsis(OR=2.85,3.42,2.32,all P<0.05).Conclusion:Hypomagnesemia is an independent risk factor for high in-hospital all-cause mortality in adult patients with sepsis.
