科学·文化·艺术——多重视域下的玻璃

摘要
玻璃作为人工合成的材料,被制作和使用的历史已经长达近5 000年.其优异的材料特质,逐渐发展出独特的制作工艺.科学界对玻璃材料的理解在不断变化和深入,而社会民众和艺术界对玻璃则长期存在认知偏差.文章从科学、文化和艺术三个维度去审视玻璃自身,阐述玻璃作为物质存在的"玻璃态"、东西方数千年来积淀的繁杂玻璃名称和文化,以及玻璃作为艺术媒介的独特魅力.
Abstract
As a synthetic material,glass has been produced and used for nearly 5 000 years.Unique working processes were gradually developed based on its significant material properties.While the understanding of glass in science is constantly developing and deepening,the public and the art world have a long-term cognitive bias against this material.This paper discusses glass from scientific,cultural,and artistic aspect,including glass is a state of matter—the glassy state,the complex history of naming the material in both eastern and western culture,and its unique charm as an artistic medium.
