摘要

西汉王朝始终未能摆脱秦仪而教化天下,被东汉人诟病.东汉初年,君臣重建古之大学辟雍,是他们追求教化理想的举措.大射养老诸礼自周末废绝,直至明帝兴辟雍礼才得以恢复.东汉辟雍礼由一系列仪式组成,包括大射礼、养老礼和天子自讲,它们彼此呼应,自成体系.大射礼有"射以观德"义涵,通过辟雍拜官,缔结以德为维系的君臣关系;养老礼借"不臣"义理,明帝暂离君之身份扮演孝子,构拟孝治天下的伦常秩序;天子亲自讲学,明帝称"我为孔子"、臣为弟子,譬喻师生式的君臣关系,以儒师自居.辟雍可"观",是明帝展示其多重理想身份的表演空间.明帝"壅天下之仪则"以自我标榜,旨在模拟人伦化的政治秩序.当时还出现"辟雍始成,欲毁太学"的现象,这既是辟雍与太学的功能有重叠之处所致,更可能是独尊辟雍背后,有将政权教权合二而为一的意图.

Abstract

The Western Han Dynasty has never been able to rid itself of the Qin institution and educate the world,which was criticized by the Eastern Han scholars.In the early years of the Eastern Han the rulers and officials rebuilt the ancient central school of Bi Yong辟雍,which was the measure they took in pursuit of the ideal way of educating the people.the ritual of archery and that of honoring the elderly were abolished at the end of the Zhou dynasty,and it was not until Emperor Ming's汉明帝 resumed the rite of Bi Yong they were restored.And the rite of Bi Yong in the Eastern Han consists of a series of rituals,including that of archery,of honoring the elderly,and of the Son of Heaven's self-preaching,which echo each other and form a coherent system.The archery ceremony has the meaning of"observing one's virtue through archery",which establishes a relationship between ruler and subject based on virtue.During the ritual of honoring the elderly Emperor Ming temporarily left his position as emperor to play the role of a filial son,constructing a moral order of filial piety in the world.The Son of Heaven personally gave lectures,referring to himself as"Confucius"and his officials as disciples,metaphorically referring to the teacher-student relationship,and considering himself a Confucian teacher.Bi Yong can be"observed",and it is a performance space for Emperor Ming to show his multiple ideal identities.Emperor Ming proclaimed himself as the"Son of Heaven"with the aim of simulating a political order based on ethics.At that time,there was also a phenomenon that"when the Bi Yong was built,the Tai Xue太学 can be cancelled",which was not only due to the overlapping functions of the two institutions,but more importantly due to the intention to unify the power of politics and that of education.
