Effects of Photosynthetic Bacteria on Agronomic Properties and Quality of the Hybrid of families between Tobacco and Medicinal Plants
In order to extend the range of tobacco germplasm resources and release the contradiction between smoking and smoker's health, the distant hybridization between tobacco and medical plants was expected to incubate the new-type tobacco which included medical ingredients. The new-type tobacco strains such as Zisu and Luole were the hybrids of families between Samsun (a variety of Nicotiana tobacum L.) and medicinal plants Perilla f rutescens (L.) Britt and Ocimum bailicum L.,respectively.The effects of photosynthetic bacteria ( PSB) on agronomic properties and quality of new-type tobacco were studied.Photosynthetic bacterial strains including Rhodospirillium,Rhodopseudomonas,Rhodobacter,Chromatium and Chlorobium were cultivated, and the number of bacteria was 5 × 109 CFU·mL-1.Results show that it can promote the growing and improve the agronomic properties of Zisu and Luole, but the appearance quality is not improved markedly when PSB liquid is sprayed to the tobacco leaves at the ratio of 1:200 dilution during the seeding stage and field growth phase. Moreover, analysis results indicate that PSB notably impact chemical component contents in leaves, such as total sugar, reducing sugar, nicotine and potassium, and make them more harmonious.Especially,it can decrease the content of nicotine in leaves of Zisu by 40.96%,while can increase the potassium content by 19.05%.And the smoking quality of leaves in PBS treatment is much better than those in the untreated control.
