The Evolution and Characteristics of Research on Ancient Chinese Logical Thought in Japanese Academia
The impact of Western civilization in the 19th century prompted East Asian intellec-tuals to re-examine traditional scholarship and discover logical thought in ancient Chi-nese thought.Japanese academia was among the first to accept Western scholarship,and its research on ancient Chinese logical thought has also yielded fruitful results.Japanese scholars initially used Western traditional formal logic as a standard to examine ancient Chinese thought.Later,they gradually began to pay attention to the characteristics of the ancient Chinese language and explore ancient Chinese logical thought from a linguistic perspective.These are the unique approaches of Japanese research on ancient Chinese logical thought.In addition,research in this field in Japan has shifted from viewing Chinese logical thought from the perspective of Western logic,to exploring the unique logical thought of China.The research on ancient Chinese logical thought in the Chi-nese academic community also shows a similar trend.The two academic communities should strengthen exchanges and jointly promote the research on ancient Chinese logical thought.
