Analysis of EU rules for the calculation of the carbon footprint of electric vehicle batteries
The EU Battery Act has mandated in regulatory form that all types of batteries placed on the EU market must disclose their lifecycle carbon footprint information. To support the implementation of the carbon footprint of batteries, the EU Joint Research Center has developed the"Rules for the calculation of the Carbon Footprint of Electric Vehicle Batteries"based on the environmental footprint method. This paper introduced the detail requirements for the functional units, system boundaries and cut-off rules, data collection requirements and data quality rating, modeling requirements, verification and reporting of the Carbon Footprint of Electric Vehicle Batteries, and provided method guidance for battery companies to carry out battery carbon footprint accounting and identify key processes of carbon emissions.
