In the process of English translation of Chinese paratactic sentences,adding appropriate conjunctions is the most common way to construct the translation texts.However,parataxis is common in the translated texts due to the effect of"source language shining through".The unmarked conjunctive means of parataxis and the marked cohesive means of hypotaxis have equivalent discourse construction functions in the process of English translation.The effect of"source language shining through"transfers the language features of the source language into the target language,which makes the hypotactic English present the parataxis characteristics unique to mandarin Chinese.
