Being hailed by Faulkner himself as the best novel ever written by an American,Absalom,Absalom!is strongly characterized by postmodernism.The unique narrative structure,the generative nature of Stupen's stories,and the intertwined corrections of the reader's horizon of expectation endow the text with multiple interpretations.The plural texts allow readers to encounter the challenge of multiple meanings,thus giving rise to a differentiated reading experience,involving readers in the construction of meaning,advancing the generation and unfolding of narration,and acquiring the possibility of interpretation in the tension of differential dislocation.By analyzing the narrative structure of the novel and the dynamic role of different readers,this paper further demonstrates the artistic charm of the novel that attracts repeated readings as well as the ontological presentation of the novel in the production of the chain of meaning.
