Analysis on the Changes of Maize Sown Area and Yield in China from 1997 to 2020
To explore the changes of total maize production, unit area yield, and sowing area in China from 1997 to 2020,29 main maize production provinces(regions)in China(excluding Hongkong,Macau,Taiwan,Qinghai, and Hainan)were analyzed by using the data of National Bureau of Statistics. The results showed that from 1997 to 2020,the planting area of corn in China increased year by year, and the total output showed a slow rising trend. The corn yield in the spring corn planting area in northern China and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau corn area increased rapidly, while the sown area increased slowly. The increase of corn sown area and yield in Huang-Huai-hai summer corn planting area, southwest mountain corn area, northwest irrigated corn area and south hilly corn area was slow. Therefore, when the sown area of corn in various re-gions of the country tends to be saturated, the yield level should be increased to improve the national corn yield.
