In order to avoid misunderstandings, it is necessary to clear several names about an invasive plant,field sandbur, names sources, similarities and differences of these names. Based on the research literature, the author finds this plant which is invading northern China has three different names. But in fact, the three names refer to the same alien plant. Shaohuajili as Chinese name, Cenchrus pauciflorus Benth. as scientific name are recommended in order to facilitate academic exchanges, investigations and the plant control in the future.
