The alleviating effect of sodium nitroprusside on the sethoxydim damage of foxtail millet
To investigate whether sodium nitroprusside can alleviate the harm of the herbicide sethoxydim to foxtail millet, calli from the high-quality foxtail millet cultivar'Jingu 21'were used as experimental materials. The callus was treated with different concentrations of sodium nitroprusside and sethoxydim. The growth of the callus was observed, and the antioxidant enzyme activity and osmotic adjustment substance content were measured under different treatments.Differences in these indexes were analyzed and compared to understand the effect of sodium nitroprusside in alleviating the harm caused by sethoxydim and to explore its detoxification mechanism. The results showed that sodium nitroprusside could alleviate the harm of sethoxydim to foxtail millet, and the appropriate concentration of sodium nitroprusside should be adjusted according to sethoxydim concentration. The sodium nitroprusside mixed with sethoxydim increased the activity of antioxidant enzymes and the content of osmotic-regulating substances in the callus of foxtail millet, and alleviated the damage of sethoxydim to foxtail millet. It provides a theoretical basis for the use of sodium nitroprusside in foxtail millet production to reduce the damage caused by sethoxydim.
