Complete nucleotide sequences of the genomes of two varietal strains of jujube mosaic-associated virus in Xinjiang
In recent years, large areas of suspected jujube mosaic-associated virus causing symptoms have been observed in jujube planting areas in the southern Xinjiang, leading to jujube leaf curling, fruit losing their commercial value because of deformity,or fruit heavily falling, resulting in severe harvest and production losses. The pathogen of this disease remains unclear.High-throughput sequencing result confirmed the presence of jujube mosaic-associated virus(JuMaV)in the diseased leaves collected from jujube cultivation areas in southern Xinjiang in this study. The full sequences of two isolates,JuMaV-AKS,and JuMaV-YPH,were determined(accession numbers were MW892537 and OL739568,respectively),and compared with jujube mosaic-associated virus JuMaV-Z6(accession no:KX852476.1)published in Genbank, the results showed that JuMaV-AKS and JuMaV-YPH shared 99.54%and 95.93%nucleotide identity with JuMaV-Z6,respectively,and 100%and 98.48%amino acid identity,respectively.Notably,JuMaV-AKS and JuMaV-YPH significantly differed from JuMaV-Z6 in the reverse transcriptase(RT)and RNA enzyme H(RNase H)coding region, suggesting ongoing mutation of jujube mosaic-associated virus in Xinjiang, although they have not yet evolved into a new species. Therefore, they were provisionally termed as jujube mosaic-associated virus XJ isolate(JuMaVXJ).The above results lay a foundation for the identification and precise control of the pathogen responsible for jujube mosaic disease in Xinjiang.
