Preliminary biological observation and trapping test of Tomostethus fraxini(Hymenoptera:Tenthredinidae)in Beijing
Tomostethus fraxini is a newly discovered leaf-eating pest on Fraxinus spp.in recent years. This sawfly has one generation per year and overwinters as matured larvae in soil. The overwintered larvae begin to pupate at mid-March and adults emerge at the end of March. The female adults lay eggs on the margin of leaf. The larvae feed on leaves and the peak period of damage is from end of April to early May.The trapping test shows that adults are attracted to all eight colors, and dark green, blue and yellow sticky board traps have better effect among them. The paper has described morphology of four stages, provided with color pictures for adult, larvae, pupa, eggs, and discussed its occurrence tendency.
